Radnor High School investigating reports of ‘inappropriate' AI-generated video
Officials at Radnor High School said an investigation is underway after they have received reports that an AI-generated video that, allegedly, contains depictions of students engaged in inappropriate behavior has been circulating the school.
In a letter to parents of children at the school, Joseph MacNamara, principal of Radnor High School, told parents that the school was aware of concerns about the possible existence of an AI-generated video that “was reported to depict several of our students in an inappropriate manner.”
“We understand how upsetting and serious this situation is, and we want to assure you that we are treating it with the highest level of urgency and care,” MacNamara wrote in the letter to parents. “Please know that all families of students who may have been affected have already been contacted and provided information about available supports.”
MacNamara said that the district is working with the Radnor Township Police Department on an investigation and they are currently gathering more information about this incident.
The principal did not, however, detail further specifics about the video and did not say if any students were involved in its creation or if any students could face any disciplinary action because of the existence of the AI-generated video.
“While we are still in the process of learning all the details, we felt it was important to communicate with you directly so you have the facts and know that student safety and well-being remain our highest priorities,” MacNamara wrote in a letter to parents.
An investigation into this incident, the principal said, is ongoing.
