Police, Secret Service will close these roads in North Beach and Surfside on NYE. Here's what to know

Police are implementing several road closures in parts of North Beach and Surfside on Wednesday due to New Year’s Eve events and the presence of a Secret Service protectee, officials said.

The closures begin at 10 a.m. and will be intermittent and extended. They are expected to last until late evening, though police did not provide a timeline. Officials did not reveal the identity of the protectee.

The Miami Beach, Surfside and Bal Harbour police departments are working in coordination with the United States Secret Service Miami Office to implement the road closures.

New Year’s Eve road closures in North Beach and Surfside

  • 87th Street and Collins Avenue: Large trucks are restricted beginning at 10 a.m. Northbound traffic on Collins Avenue will be suspended beginning at 12 p.m. All northbound vehicles will be detoured west and redirected southbound on Harding Avenue.
  • 86th Street and Byron Avenue: Local passenger vehicles will be permitted to continue traveling northbound. Beginning at 10 a.m., oversized vehicles, including commercial delivery trucks and vehicles exceeding standard passenger van size, will be restricted from northbound travel and redirected southbound.
  • 85th Street and Byron Avenue / Harding Avenue: Traffic control measures will be utilized to flush southbound traffic as necessary while maintaining continuous traffic flow to minimize congestion.
  • 93rd Street and Collins Avenue: Large trucks will be restricted starting at 10 a.m. Northbound traffic on Collins Avenue will be suspended between 93rd and 96th Streets beginning at 12 p.m.
  • Southbound Harding will remain open.
  • 96th Street will remain accessible.
