Police searching for driver in Miami hit-and-run that left pedestrian critical

Authorities are searching for a driver who struck a pedestrian in Miami and fled the scene in a hit-and-run that was caught on camera.

The incident happened around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 36th Street in Allapattah.

Miami Police officials said the pedestrian was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle, believed to be a Toyota or Chevrolet SUV.

After hitting the victim, the driver stopped, reversed, and parked, then got out and tried to give aid to the pedestrian for about three minutes before fleeing the scene, police said.

The entire incident was caught on camera.

When officers responded, they found the injured victim, whose identity wasn’t released, lying on the ground. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police are searching for the vehicle or driver and are asking anyone with information to call them at 305-603-6525.
