Police arrest man after chasing him in stolen U-Haul truck through Bucks County

A man was arrested after allegedly stealing a U-Haul truck, crashing several times and leading police on chases through Bucks County on Tuesday, according to the Bensalem Township Police Department.

This all started around 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 when officials with the Bristol Township Police Department called officers in Bensalem to tell them that a stolen U-Haul truck drove onto Interstate 95 after crashing into a car.

Police identified the man driving the stolen U-Haul as Ryan Laskowski, 38, of Levittown, and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Laskowski then returned to the neighborhood in the U-Haul several times throughout the day on Tuesday and crashed into other cars as well as a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle.

In an update police shared on Wednesday, state police officials said troopers first attempted to stop Laskowski, who was allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen 2024 GMC Savana U-Haul van, in the area of Route 413 and New Falls Road in Bristol at about 2:28 p.m. om Tuesday.

Troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police began to chase Laskowski in the U-Haul which led to him crashing into a Bensalem Police Department car, a fence and a fire hydrant outside of the ACME grocery store on Bristol Road, officials said.

Then, around 3:30 p.m., Laskowski crashed into anther car near the intersection of Bristol Road and Grandview Avenue, police said.

Officers took Laskowski to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he is being held as a prisoner.

Laskowski is expected to be formally arraigned on charges including theft of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, felony fleeing and eluding as well as other related charges.

Also, officials said, a Pa. State Trooper suffered a minor injury during the course of this incident.
