Person sought after fleeing from vehicle and leaving child behind in Plantation, police say

Authorities were searching for a person who they said fled from a vehicle and left a child behind in Plantation on Thursday.

Plantation Police said they were assisting the Florida Highway Patrol in setting up a perimeter near Flamingo Road and State Road 84.

A K-9 and drone were assisting in the search, police said.

Police later said the perimeter was cleared along with a precautionary lockdown at nearby American Heritage School.

The person wasn’t found but there was no threat to the public, police said.

No other information was immediately known.
