A 22-year-old Pennsylvania man charged with raping an elderly woman after breaking into her home is now accused of breaking into several homes targeting women, officials said.
We’re learning more information on the case out of Montgomery County where John Vernon Gray, of Telford, was arrested and a criminal complaint released on Thursday details three more incidents.
Three of the incidents all happened at the same senior living center.
According to a criminal complaint, investigators said that the first incident happened on May 10, 2025 when a woman in her 70s woke up around 2:30 a.m. to Gray allegedly climbing through her window at the Dock Woods Senior Living Community in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
She told police that she screamed which made him run away, officials said.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673.
Then, about half an hour later, authorities said that Gray then went to the Dock Woods Community home of a woman in her 90s and entered through the unlocked front door.
The criminal complaint said that the victim told police that she found Gray standing in her bedroom and when she asked what he wanted, he allegedly said, “I want you.”
Police said that Gray then sexually assaulted the woman, told her that he loved her and begged her not to tell anyone before he left.
Months later, on Nov. 8, police explained that two more women reported walking up to a stranger in their bedrooms.
One victim said that Gray tried to lift her nightgown after he entered her home at the Dock Woods Senior Living Community, officials said.
It was half an hour later when a woman in her 40s on Crosshill Court in Lansdale said that Gray entered through a sliding glass door and began touching her before she screamed for her husband, the criminal complaint alleges.
Gray was charged with rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, burglary and other related offenses.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for early next month.
