Pedestrian walkway collapses at Hallandale Beach building, police say
Authorities responded after a pedestrian walkway collapsed at a Hallandale Beach building on Thursday.
The incident happened at the building at 1250 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard and involved the walkway connecting the building with an adjacent parking garage, Hallandale Beach Police officials said.
Aerial images showed two vehicles under the collapsed walkway as police had the area closed off by yellow tape.

There were no reported injuries but fire rescue crews were partially evacuating the building while they assess the scene and ensure it’s safe, officials said.
“We heard a huge blast. It was a huge sound,” witness Igor Petrovich said.
Petrovich said he was at a doctor’s appointment on the building’s second floor when he heard the collapse around 11 a.m. and saw people running.
“People were running on the second floor, they were running, something fell down, something fell down,” he said.

The building houses several businesses, doctor’s offices and a pre-school.
Parents said they received an alert from the preschool about the collapse then got another alert to pick up their kids.
Petrovich said for now, he and other drivers who parked in the garage can’t get to their cars, and don’t know when they’ll get them back.
“There’s about 30 to 50 cars in the parking lot and we’re not able to get them out,” he said.
“My car is stuck.”
Investigators are working to determine what caused the walkway to collapse.
No other information was immediately known.
