OMG, it's gonna be soooooo hot on Thursday and Friday

Hey, those of you breathing a sigh of relief that the weekend heat wave peaked should not chill. More hot weather, and plenty of it, is on the way later this week.

“Temperatures will be around 20-25 degrees above normal and are expected to hit record levels,” NBC 7 meteorologist Sheena Parveen reported, adding, “our heat risk will be elevated across the county with, also, an elevated fire risk with such dry, hot conditions.”

Officials with the National Weather Service said Tuesday afternoon that a heat advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. on Thursday through Friday night at 8. Temperatures up to 98 degrees can be expected inland, and some areas along the coast might see the mercury pushing 92 degrees.

And, hey, that’s not it: “Very warm temperatures are expected to continue into the weekend and beyond,” the NWS stated.

High temps over the weekend kept the beaches hopping and the AC’s cranked. La Jolla saw highs near the mid-80s, as did downtown San Diego. Breezy Santa Anas blew hard throughout the county, as well, knocking down at least one tree down and adding fuel to brush fires in Chula Vista and near Mission Valley. Wind speeds were typically in the 20-30 mph range, with some gusts cresting 50 mph.
