Officials: ‘Significant vandalism' cancels Allentown's Lights in the Parkway
Officials in Allentown, on Sunday, said they were canceling the popular Lights in the Parkway event for the evening due to “significant vandalism.”
In a post online, Allentown officials said that vandals pushed port-a-potties into the river, bent light poles and posts and crushed hundreds of light bulbs that, on a typical evening would light up the night.
Officials said the parks team is working to assess all of the damage and the attraction would be closed on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, due to the incident.
Officials aren’t sure if Lights on the Parkway will return on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 or not.
As they determine the extent of the damage, officials said, they would provide an update on the situation in the near future.
