November SNAP benefits on hold: Erie County Executive
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, or SNAP benefits, will be on hold next month due to an ongoing federal government shutdown.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced the news on social media on Friday. He also said that the opening of the HEAP season will be delayed until Nov. 17 and said more information will be released later on Friday.
SNAP is a federal program that provides money for food for low-income working people, seniors, and the disabled based on factors such as income and household size. Millions of Americans rely on the program every year.
