New luxury wedding venue opens at Seaport Village

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A piece of San Diego history has been given new life—and this time, it’s dressed for a party.
Wedgewood Weddings & Events has officially opened its newest luxury venue, Wedgewood Weddings at The Headquarters, inside the beautifully restored historic San Diego Police Headquarters at Seaport Village. According to a venue spokesperson, the transformation blends 1930s art deco design with modern amenities, offering a unique destination for weddings, corporate gatherings, galas, and social events.
Originally built in 1939, the 15,000-square-foot venue honors the architectural charm of its past while introducing a fresh and luxurious experience for guests. Features include The Velvet Lounge, a dramatic speakeasy-style cocktail space with jewel-toned accents and ambient lighting, and The Gilded Hall, an industrial-chic reception space with exposed beam ceilings and glamorous chandeliers that can seat up to 280 guests.
“The Headquarters is an icon, and we approached it with the respect it deserves,” said Bill Zaruka, CEO of Wedgewood Weddings & Events. “By honoring its history and refining its spaces, we’re giving San Diego couples and event planners an exceptional venue that feels both timeless and newly inspired.”
Also included are two lavish VIP suites, The Rose Room and The Vault, decked out in bold art deco furnishings and wallpaper, perfect for capturing pre-event moments or simply relaxing in style.
Wedgewood Weddings at The Headquarters becomes the company’s sixth location in San Diego County and one of more than 75 venues nationwide operated by the event management brand.
Centrally located near the San Diego Convention Center and San Diego International Airport, and surrounded by top-tier hotels, dining and waterfront attractions, the venue is expected to draw both local and destination events.
