New affordable housing development opens on Delaware Avenue

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A new affordable housing development, with apartments starting as low as $460 a month, has been completed on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, the New York State Homes and Community Renewal announced.
The Pan-American Square Apartments are located at 2633 Delaware Avenue. Those earning up to 60 percent of the Area Median Income are eligible to apply.
"The completion of the Pan American Square Apartments is an important milestone in improving the quality of life for families, seniors, and the most vulnerable Western New Yorkers," said Congressman Tim Kennedy.
A hundred of the 150 apartment units will be reserved for seniors 55 and up as well as vulnerable residents, including those struggling with homelessness.
Studio apartments start at $460 a month. Two-bedroom apartments range from $592 to $950 a month with all utilities included.
Each apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a microwave, a flatscreen smart TV, and in-unit storage. Complimentary Wi-Fi, free laundry, and off-street parking are also available.
The $93 million development will include support services such as healthcare coordination and independent living skills education.
"By combining energy efficiency, affordability, and supportive services, the Pan American Square Apartments will help more families and individuals realize a brighter future while strengthening the Buffalo community as a whole," said NYS Energy Research and Development Authority President and CEO Doreen Harris.
