NBC 7 Responds helps San Diego viewers resolve car wash, loan issues

NBC 7 Responds recently helped two San Diego County viewers resolve consumer issues involving a damaged vehicle claim and a disputed loan-payment due date.

Cesar Montoya and Carolina Rosas, members of Super Star Car Wash, contacted NBC 7 Responds after they said a trip through the car wash left their vehicle damaged.

Carolina said the rails failed while she was going through the wash, causing her to hit the car in front of her and damage the bumper.

The car wash provided paperwork accepting responsibility and instructed the couple to obtain two repair estimates and submit them by email.

After submitting the estimates, the couple said they never heard back. Montoya later visited the car wash in person seeking answers, but said he was unable to get any information about the claim.

NBC 7 Responds contacted Super Star Car Wash on their behalf. Montoya and Rosas later received a check for nearly $3,000.

In a statement to NBC 7 Responds, Super Star Car Wash said, “Customer experience and safety are top priorities at Super Star Car Wash, and as such, we have not only been in direct communication with Ms. Rosas and Mr. Montoya but our team promptly conducted a thorough inspection of the equipment and operational procedures at that site in accordance with our standard safety protocols. We spoke with Ms. Rosas and Mr. Montoya again on Friday to confirm that we are covering 100% of the cost of necessary repairs through their preferred vendor and are coordinating next steps with them directly. We are very grateful for their safety and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of services, care, and safety across all of our locations.”

Due date dispute

NBC 7 Responds also assisted Ruben of San Marcos, who said LendingClub promised to change the payment due date on his loan but failed to do so, leading to late-payment penalties.

Ruben said he called several times and spent hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue himself.

NBC 7 Responds contacted LendingClub. The company sent a statement that said, “We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. After reviewing further, our Consumer Advocacy Team connected with the customer and worked to resolve their concerns. Due to privacy and regulatory considerations, we cannot share details about an individual customer’s account. We remain committed to addressing customer concerns in a timely manner and providing a positive experience.”

NBC 7 Responds later checked back with Ruben, who confirmed the due date on his loan was changed the following month.
