Multiple people were displaced after a fire spread to four homes in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Christmas Eve.

The fire started shortly before 5:30 p.m. along the 900 block of West 7th Street on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Officials told NBC10 the fast-moving fire spread across the roofs of four homes before responding firefighters from multiple departments were able to bring the flames under control.

Several people were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported however.

“We’ve had other fires on Christmas Eve and community organizations get them gifts and things like that but the most important thing is that no one is hurt,” Chester Fire Commissioner John Paul Shirley said. “We can’t replace a human life.”

Late Wednesday night, a spokesperson announced the Red Cross will provide support for 13 people impacted by the fire.

“Our Disaster Action Team volunteers responded quickly to meet the immediate needs of the five affected families,” the spokesperson wrote. “This support may include comfort and emotional care, financial assistance, access to health services and referrals to local resources to help the families begin their recovery.”

Officials have not yet revealed the cause of the fire. They continue to investigate.
