MTS minibus and access services impacted due to strike
Certain services of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System are impacted this week due to a strike involving Transdev, which operates the minibus and access services, and the Teamsters Local 542 union.
A work stoppage is currently underway and could last until a mutual agreement is reached between the parties.
Transdev operates the minibus and access services on behalf of the MTS and is in contract negotiations with its bus operators, as MTS does not directly employ them. Service out of the Copley Park Division will be limited. This includes 20 minibus routes and MTS access services.
The following routes are impacted:
- Routes: 14, 18, 25, 83, 84, 833, 838, 904, 944, 945, 964, 965, 985.
- Saturdays: 832, 833, 838, 904, 945, 965.
- Sundays: 904, 832, 833, 838.
“MTS is not a party to the negotiations and does not have information on details. Transdev is actively negotiating with the Teamsters 542 and remains hopeful to come to an amicable resolution soon with minimal disruption to the riding public,” MTS has stated on its website.
For fixed-route minibus services that Transdev operates, MTS says they will use alternative resources to operate as many routes as possible.
MTS is encouraging passengers to check the Alerts & Detours page for the status of their trip or call the information and trip planning office at 619-233-3004. For updates on MTS access service, you can call 1-800-921-9664.
