Motorcyclist killed in crash on MacArthur Causeway at Biscayne Boulevard

A man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash that shut down a stretch of the MacArthur Causeway early Monday, authorities said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Causeway at Biscayne Boulevard.

The motorcyclist crashed into the barrier wall and was ejected, coming to rest in a construction zone.

The victim was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died from his injuries, FHP said. His identity wasn’t released.

The exit ramp is currently closed.

“Drivers are being diverted to the Biscayne Boulevard exit, where they can continue west on NE 13 Street to access the westbound I-395 ramp at North Miami Avenue,” officials with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Connecting Miami project said.

Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, like the Julia Tuttle Causeway (Interstate 195), as an alternate route.
