Mother of 5-year-old killed in Florida City shooting arrested on unrelated warrant
The mother of a 5-year-old girl who was killed in a shooting at a Florida City home appeared in court Thursday following her arrest on an unrelated charge.
Ashley Marie Hosendove, 32, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a disorderly conduct charge related to an incident from March, court records showed.
According to an arrest affidavit, Hosendove was charged after her boyfriend was taken into custody for battery when she began to shout and scream profanities at the officers.
In court Thursday, a judge questioned by Hosendove didn’t show up for hearings on April 28 and June 2.
She replied that she’d had a family issue and had logged in late for a Zoom call.
The judge set her bond at $1,500.
Hosendove was arrested Wednesday, hours after her 5-year-old daughter, Ja’nova Parks, was shot to death.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Florida City Police arrived at the home in the 1400 block of Northwest 1st Court after receiving reports of a shooting shortly before 2 a.m.
Parks was found shot in the torso, and officers brought her and Hosendove to Homestead Baptist Hospital, and she was later airlifted to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Det. Angel Rodriguez said there were three adults and two children in the home at the time of the shooting, including the girl’s 4-year-old brother.
Investigators are working to determine how the girl wound up shot, including whether she may have accidentally shot herself or was shot by someone else.
