Missing Philly boy found safe in Upper Chichester, police say

A 10-year-old boy who went missing in Philadelphia was found safe in Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania, police said.

In an initial news release, Pennsylvania State Police said they were looking for Muhammad Sakho, who was last seen in the area of Penrose Elementary School, 2515 S. 78th Street, in Philadelphia, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.

Captain Joseph Busa, Commanding Officer of Southwest Detectives, shared during a press conference on Wednesday that, so far, they knew the boy’s father dropped him off at school that morning.

Busa reported that surveillance footage then showed Muhammad entering the school cafeteria at 8:08 a.m. and leaving at 8:20 a.m.

“Due to Muhammad being 10 years old and the extreme weather conditions, we are extremely concerned,” said Busa.

Muhammad’s family, his mother, stepfather and aunt, spoke out during the press conference, urging the public to help find him.

“My firstborn son is missing. He was dropped off at school. There is no reason this should have happened,” said Stehpahnie Chapman, Muhammad’s mother. “I’m at a loss for words.”

Shortly after the press conference, Philadelphia police announced Muhammad was found safe in Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania. They did not release any additional information on how the boy was found.
