Miami woman claims ex-husband shot her brother-in-law in ‘jealous' rage, cops say
A Miami man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting his ex-wife’s brother-in-law, police said.
Ramon Lauzurique-Gonzalez, 55, was arrested Wednesday on an attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon charge, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
According to an arrest report, the alleged incident happened at an apartment at 3430 Southwest 10th Street in the Little Gables neighborhood where Lauzurique-Gonzalez lives with his ex-wife, the ex-wife’s sister and her husband, the victim.
Officers had responded to the building and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, and he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition, Miami Police said.
The victim told investigators Lauzurique-Gonzalez shot him and pistol-whipped him before he was able to disarm Lauzurique-Gonzalez and flee, the report said.
Lauzurique-Gonzalez’s ex-wife told investigators they were arguing and that Lauzurique-Gonzalez was jealous, saying she divorced him because she was attracted to the brother-in-law, the report said.
She said Lauzurique-Gonzalez told her “I’m going to solve a problem” before he left and returned, and a short time later she heard gunshots and saw Lauzurique-Gonzalez holding a gun and the victim shot, the report said.
The brother-in-law said the four had been living together for about three months, the report said.
Lauzurique-Gonzalez was booked into jail and on Thursday, appeared before a judge, who appointed him a public defender and ordered him held without bond.
