Miami-Dade inmate who killed partner, got pregnant in jail, faces new battery charge

A woman who made national headlines when she became pregnant while behind bars in Miami-Dade and was convicted of murdering her partner back in 2022 is facing a new battery charge, records showed.

Daisy Link, 30, was charged with battery by a detainee on a visitor or other detainee.

Link in 2025 was convicted of second-degree murder charges in the killing of her partner, Pedro Jimenez, during a violent confrontation at her Homestead home.

According to authorities, on Monday, a detainee was in her cell, and Link entered the cell and began to punch the detainee in the face.

An arrest report said that the victim said she was alone in her cell when Link came in and attacked her. She said she was struck at least 15 times.

The victim also said that she and Link didn’t say anything and she didn’t know why she was attacked, the report said.

Two witnesses, the report said, were interviewed, and one said she was passing by and saw Link in the cell with the victim, but didn’t see a physical confrontation. The second witness said she saw the victim on the floor of her cell and Link helping her stand up.

After being attacked, the victim suffered a minor injury to her upper lip and minor scratches to her nose, while Link was uninjured.

Link’s previous case gained national attention in 2024 after reports surfaced that she, while in jail awaiting trial, conspired with a now-convicted killer to get pregnant by passing semen through the jail’s air vents.

According to court records, Link and a male inmate, Joan Depaz, began communicating through the jail’s ventilation system. Depaz, 24, was arrested in 2020 and later convicted of second-degree murder. He is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence, Florida Department of Corrections records show.

Link gave birth in June 2024, and family members are now caring for the child. The jail’s internal investigation into the matter has since been closed.

Daisy Link takes the stand on Oct. 15, 2025.
