Man wanted for deadly shooting in South Jersey arrested in Spain: Prosecutors
A man who prosecutors said was wanted for a shooting that killed a man and injured another in Camden, New Jersey, was found and arrested overseas.
Felix De La Cruz-Arias, 30, of Brooklyn, New York, was taken into custody on January 30, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain, by the Spanish National Police, according to Camden County Prosecutors.
Prosecutors said De La Cruz-Arias was charged on April 4, 2025, with first-degree Murder in the March 2025
fatal shooting of Josue Hiraldo-Peralta, 32, of Camden. He was also charged with first-degree Attempted Murder for shooting a second man who survived.
Back on March 12, 2025, around 10:29 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the area of the 300 block of Morse Street in Camden after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, prosecutors said officers found Hiraldo-Peralta suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside on the ground. Officers then found a second victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a nearby residence.
Prosecutors shared that both shooting victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Hiraldo-Peralta was pronounced dead at around 11:05 p.m.
Following an investigation, prosecutors said it was determined that De La CruzArias was the individual responsible for the shooting.
De La CruzArias was found in Spain and is being held in a correctional facility there, pending extradition to the United States.
“This arrest sends a clear message that violence in our community will be pursued wherever it leads, even across international borders,” said Camden County Prosecutor Grace C.
