Man secretly records teen girls in fitting room of store, police say

Police are searching for a man who they say secretly recorded teen girls as they tried on clothes in the fitting room of a store in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, Dec. 30, around 3:30 p.m., West Whiteland Township police officers responded to Plato’s Closet at the Whiteland Towne Center for a reported suspicious incident. Investigators said a man was inside the store taking pictures and videos of teen girls without their permission.

“They came out, they said something,” West Whiteland Township Police Detective Sergeant Jeffrey McCloskey said. “The male that was with them was able to point somebody out. They weren’t afraid to say something.”

Police later released surveillance images of a suspect in the incident and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

Surveillance photos of a person of interest in the incident.

“We were able to determine that the person in the pictures that we sent out is the right person that had a camera underneath the stall where the females were in various stages of undress at the time,” Detective Sgt. McCloskey said. “Our children should be able to go into stores; teenagers go in to shop and have fun after Christmas and use their money that they got. We shouldn’t have to worry about people that want to prey on children or teenagers.”

As police search for the suspect, McCloskey said investigators are concerned about more possible victims being out there.

“The gentleman that was standing outside remembers someone else being in the dressing room next to that person and then that person coming out and the girls going in,” Detective Sgt. McCloskey said. “So, there might be more victims. There might be someone else who didn’t see the camera come under the stall.”
