Man killed in West Philly shooting early Monday, investigation underway

A shooting in West Philadelphia, just as the sun rose on Monday, left a man dead, police said.

According to police, an investigation is underway after a man was killed in a shooting that happened at about 7:13 a.m. along the 4100 block of Pennsgrove Street in West Philadelphia.

Police said the victim — who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on — was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced at about 7:34 a.m.

As of 9 a.m., police were still investigating the scene.

An investigation, officials said, is ongoing.
