Man hospitalized after officer fires weapon in Miami Shores, cops say

A man was taken to the hospital after an officer was forced to fire their weapon in Miami Shores on Sunday, police said.

According to Miami Shores Police, officers arrived at Tropical Chevrolet at 8880 Biscayne Boulevard after receiving reports of a man who was carrying two large-edged weapons and was causing a disturbance.

Police said the man left the dealership before officers arrived.

Sometime afterwards, an officer found the man near the intersection of Northeast 86th Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

Video sent to NBC6 shows the man with what appears to be something in his hand running towards the officer.

The officer fires his weapon at the man.

Only In Dade video shows the aftermath of the incident, where the man appears to be on the ground being placed on a stretcher.

Police said the officers treated the man, and he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

His identity and condition were not released.

No officers or civilians were injured in the incident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will take over the investigation, which is standard whenever an officer fires their weapon.
