Man arrested in connection with death of woman found on Hollywood Beach: Police
A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found on Hollywood Beach the day after Christmas, police said Monday.
The body of 56-year-old Heather Asendorf was found on the sand near Cleveland Street shortly after 7 a.m. on Dec. 26, Hollywood Police officials said.
Police didn’t say how Asendorf had died but said foul play was suspected.
On Dec. 30, the suspect, 28-year-old Brandon McCray, was arrested in Hollywood with help from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, police said.

McCray is charged with two counts of sexual battery, kidnapping, battery and battery by strangulation, police said.
Police gave no other details but said the case remains under investigation.
“This case remains an active criminal investigation. There is no indication of a broader threat to the community,” police said in a statement.
Jail records showed McCray was being held on a $770,000 bond.
According to court records, McCray was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in September of 2023 after he allegedly flashed a gun at a tow truck driver who was repossessing his car.
