During his court appearance on Wednesday, a judge gave Espinosa a $5,000 bond and ordered him to stay away from the victim.

According to authorities, on Jan. 26, the victim’s father arrived at the Doral Police Station to report a sexual incident involving his son.

An arrest report said that his son, who lives in Pennsylvania with his mother, came to stay with his father from November to December. During that time, the father noticed that the victim wasn’t acting like himself, and his mother took his phone away.

On Jan. 23, the victim’s mother checked his phone and found messages from December that he sent to an unknown number, the report said.

In those messages, the report said, the victim agreed to meet the unknown person at his father’s apartment in Doral and was told to park in the third-floor garage. The unknown person also asked the victim for his age, to which he said he was 18.

The victim told his mother that he messaged the unknown person on an app called Sniffles, and when they agreed to meet, they engaged in oral sex, the report said.

When detectives interviewed the victim, he told them that he contacted the man on the app at the end of November, and after giving each other’s phone numbers, they started texting each other, the report said.

The victim, the report said, told detectives that he got into the man’s car when he got to the apartment’s garage, and they engaged in oral sex. The man then sent the victim a voicemail in Spanish, where he said “But, you know. You seem like a kid, and I was nervous.”

After he sent those voicemails, the man referred to the victim as “delicious minor,” the report said. Detectives, through phone records, were able to identify the man as Espinosa and his vehicle was registered to him, the report said.

Doral Police on Tuesday took Espinosa into custody and agreed to speak with detectives, the report said.

During his interview, the report said, Espinosa told detectives that he was messaged by someone on the app and to meet up, and he asked the person how old they were, and they told him they were 20 years old.

When he met the victim, Espinosa noticed that he was young and again asked him how old he was, and the victim told him he was 20. He told detectives that there was a previous incident when he met with an underage male and asked for ID, the report said.

Detectives asked him why he didn’t ask the current for his age, and Espinosa said he took the victim’s word that he was 20, the report said.

Based on their information, authorities determined that, based on their messages, Espinosa implied that he knew the victim was underage, and he was charged and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

“We have a zero tolerance for any type of crime that targets our community, specifically our youth,” Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez said Wednesday. “It’s critically important to monitor the activities of your children, it’s critically important to monitor the communications and the cell phone usage of your juveniles. Often times, there are a ton of social media platforms and other avenues for folks to communicate, there are adults, there are sexual predators, who are targeting children and in this case, that subject is in jail but was able to engage in sexual activity with a child. This is preventable but involves the proactive activity of parents with their kids.”
