Man arrested after over 80 pounds of hashish found in luggage at MIA: Cops

A man was arrested after over 80 pounds of hashish worth millions of dollars was found in his luggage at Miami International Airport, authorities said.

Jay St. Louis, 28, of Asbury Park, N.J., was arrested at MIA on Saturday on cannabis trafficking charges, an arrest report said.

According to the report, St. Louis was detained aboard an international flight to Sao Paolo, Brazil.

He had checked in three bags that were behind the counter and ready to be sent through the carousel, but a Customs check of the luggage revealed several vacuum sealed packages, the report said.

A further inspection revealed 37.11 kilograms of hashish in the packages, over 81 pounds, the report said.

St. Louis was arrested and booked into jail. A judge later granted him a $20,000 bond.

During his bond court appearance, a detectives said the street value of the hashish was $2.2 to $2.3 million.

“That’s a lot,” Judge Mindy Glazer replied.
