Local leaders celebrate groundbreaking of PHA's Westpark Redevelopment Project
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker were on hand for the groundbreaking on the first phase of the Westpark Redevelopment Project on Monday.
The Philadelphia Housing Authority received $21 million in federal funding to renovate the three towers of Westpark Apartments in West Philly.
The project will add retail space for local businesses as well as hundreds of new homes across the three buildings for both new and returning residents.
It will also connect the complex with the nearby SEPTA station at 46th and Market Streets.
