LIVE RADAR: Rain returns to South Florida's forecast. Here's what to expect
Friday kicks off an active weather pattern that will continue into the weekend, including the potential for thunderstorms that could bring hail, lightning, urban flooding and strong wind, the National Weather Service said.
Here’s what to know.
Will it rain today and when?
Friday morning will see some isolated showers, but the bulk of the activity is expected in the afternoon.
“Widespread storms are forecast to develop over land during the afternoon hours. Some storms have the potential to become severe,” the NWS said.
Hazards include strong wind, hail, lightning and urban flooding, according to the NWS.
NBC6 meteorologist Adam Berg says South Florida may see spotty rain by noon.
“But once we get to lunch and beyond, we really have to start looking for these showers and firestorms that fire up,” Berg said. “So I’d call it a busier afternoon and early evening.”
Commuters should be prepared to use caution on the road. It should be drier into the late evening.
Will it rain this weekend?
The bigger impact from the stalled front will be daily thunderstorms through the weekend. These storms will tend to favor the afternoons, so try to squeeze in those plans early!
The NWS says Saturday and Sunday could see scattered showers in the morning, followed by potentially severe storms in the afternoons.
An active and stormy end to week as well as this weekend is on the horizon. Potential exists for some embedded severe thunderstorms that can produce hail, strong winds, and heavy downpours.
