‘It is bad': 911 calls reveal frantic moments after Pompano Beach crash that killed 3 teens
New 911 calls are revealing the frantic moments after a crash in Pompano Beach earlier this week that left three teens dead.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. Monday near the 1600 block of North Federal Highway when two vehicles collided and one vehicle, a BMW, slammed into a concrete pole and bus stop, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.
“Somebody needs to come immediately, immediately,” a man says in one of the calls released on Wednesday. “You need fire trucks, you need rescue fire trucks.”
“Ma’am, it is bad, oh my God ma’am,” the man adds.
BSO officials said it appeared the white 2014 BMW M5 was going southbound on North Federal Highway and for reasons unknown, struck the center median’s raised concrete curb then lost control and struck the second vehicle, a 2024 Acura Integra.

The BMW slid sideways across the roadway before crashing into the bus stop, pole and a tree, officials said.
“There was a car that was speeding, they ran the red light and they slammed into the other car and they spun out of control,” a man said in another call. “It’s a white car, it’s really mangled now…Yeah, it’s a white car. And it was completely through a bus stop.”
The driver and passengers of the Acura weren’t injured in the crash.
“I know it was a white car, but they were coming super fast and hit us,” a woman, believed to be the other driver, told a 911 operator in one of the calls. “It’s a really bad car accident. Extremely bad.”
Three males – ages 15, 16, and 18 – were in the BMW and were rushed to a local hospital where they died from their injuries.
They were identified as 18-year-old Richard Alcocer, his 16-year-old cousin, Miguel Montez, and family friend Ruben Balthazar, 15.

BSO officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but said the preliminary investigation showed that excessive speed by the BMW’s driver is a possible contributing factor in the crash.
Alcocer’s brother, Juan, went to the crash site on Tuesday and said his family is in mourning.
“It’s tragic what happened to them, all of the sudden, you know?” he said. “Devastated, devastated. It’s terrible, going through a tough time right now, we’re trying to cope with it, it still feels unreal.”
