Is the post office open or closed on MLK Day?
The United States Postal Service will be closed on MLK Day, as it is one of the 11 holidays USPS will observe in 2026.
All post office locations will be closed and no mail will be picked up or delivered.
Normal post office hours and mail delivery will resume on Tuesday, Jan 20.

As a federal holiday, all nonessential government offices will be closed, including:

- Public schools
Most sanitation and trash collection services will also be closed. Services will be delayed by one day in many areas. Residents should check their local town’s sanitation website for updated trash pickup schedules.
Grocery stores, restaurants and shopping centers will remain open but some may have adjusted hours.
