'I feel like he stabbed me in the chest': Parents seek answers in hit & run that killed 6-year-old

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A Chollas Creek family is pleading for help to find the driver who hit and killed their 6-year-old son.

“I’m weak,” said Borno Louis. His son, Lucas, was killed Saturday night while walking across the 5400 block of University Avenue in Chollas Creek around 6:50 p.m. He was walking with a family friend and they were heading back to their apartment complex.

Witnesses told police the car was a light-colored sedan, possibly silver, gray or champagne in color.

“The fact that you left and left him on the ground like he was nothing, it hurts,” said the boy’s mother, Yolande Chery, through an interpreter. “I feel he could have killed me instead of my son. I feel like he stabbed me in the chest.”

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department.

A GoFundMe -- Assist Family of City Heights Hit-and-Run Victim -- has been created to help the family during this time.
