Hudson man accused of killing grandmother with skateboard pleads not guilty

A 29-year-old Hudson man is accused of attacking members of his family with a skateboard and killing his grandmother.

The attacks happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, prompting several calls to police.

“The defendant lived at that home with his father, his sister, and his grandmother,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said. “The defendant allegedly attacked Elaine Dube in the basement apartment where she lived, striking her several times with a skateboard.”

Officers said by the time they arrived the suspect fled the scene.

45 minutes later, police say they received another call and eventually found the suspect, identified as Devin Dube, hiding in a van in Hudson.

Police say his grandmother, Elaine Dube, 90, was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

He was arrested shortly after and was arraigned Wednesday in court on several charges including murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury to someone over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to someone over 60, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of his grandmother.

In court, Dube pleaded not guilty and will be held without bail. He was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
