House fire in Miami-Dade prompts large emergency response
A house fire in Miami-Dade spread to a neighboring home early Friday, prompting a large emergency response, officials said.
More than 18 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were dispatched at 6:39 a.m. to the 20400 block of Northwest 29th Place, where firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-family residence.
The blaze extended to an adjacent home, leading officials to upgrade the response to a second alarm.
Three people were evaluated at the scene for injuries and declined transport to a hospital, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A man at the scene said the fire may have started when a battery from his son’s electric motorbike exploded while charging. He said he was injured while trying to rescue his son. Authorities have not confirmed that account.
