Heat advisory issued as Santa Ana winds bring high temps to San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- It's about to heat up across San Diego County.

High pressure will return on Monday and stick around until mid-week. On Tuesday, the inland valleys will be under a Heat Advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Temperatures are forecast to range from 88 to 95 degrees in the areas under a heat advisory, with moderate HeatRisk expected, the National Weather Service reports.

Tuesday highs:

  • Escondido: 90°
  • El Cajon: 92°
  • Ramona: 93°
  • Alpine: 88°

Santa Ana winds will also impact the interior part of the county.

  • Highs temperatures near or a few degrees above normal. (National Weather Service)
  • A warming trend will send temperatures 5 to 15 degrees above normal. (National Weather Service)
  • Much warmer for mid-week, about 5-15 degrees above normal. (National Weather Service)
  • Weak Santa Ana winds expected on Tuesday. North and east winds gusting 45-55 mph in and below the Cajon Pass, the San Gorgonio Pass and in the Santa Ana Mountains. the mountains and deserts, up to 45 mph in wind-prone mountain passes. By Thursday, temperatures will cool and onshore flow will return.

Hot temperatures can cause illness, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning, stay out of the sun and check on relatives.
