Harbor Police revive security guard left unconscious, without pulse after altercation

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Port of San Diego Harbor Police responded to a fight in progress just after midnight Sunday at North Harbor Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a security guard unconscious, not breathing and without a pulse, according to authorities.

Authorities say the man's state was a result of a physical altercation. According to the report, Harbor Police officers immediately began performing life-saving measures on the victim and successfully restored his pulse.

The victim was then reportedly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was stabilized and remains hospitalized there.

The altercation allegedly occurred at 1800 North Harbor Drive near City Cruises by Hornblower as an excursion was disembarking, authorities say.

According to the report, the investigation led police to the arrest of Ernesto Molina Jr., 39, and Claudia Mendiola De Franco, 48. Mendiola De Franco was arrested and charged with allegedly assaulting Molina Jr., which reportedly occurred after the security guard was assaulted.

Authorities say both suspects are in custody on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to cause great bodily injury.
