Gunman sought after man shot in the back in North Philly, police say

An investigation is underway, officials said, after a man was shot in the back in an incident that happened late Saturday night in North Philadelphia.

According to police, officers responded to the 400 block of West Cambria Street, in North Philly, at about 11:58 p.m. on Saturday, to find a 51-year-old man who had been shot in the lower back.

The man, police said, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was placed in stable condition.

However, police said at that location, officers were unable to determine a scene of a shooting.

The victim, police said, told officers he was attacked by a man in a red jacket who covered his face when the shooting occurred.

An investigation into the incident, officials said, is ongoing.
