Glendale hit with multiple water main breaks in 24-hour span

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Crews are working to repair multiple water main breaks that occurred within a 24-hour period in Glendale.

Missouri American Water has reported at least five water main breaks in Glendale. Crews began addressing the first break early Monday morning on Sappington Road, with subsequent breaks reported on North Berry Road, Venneman Avenue, and more streets.

The first water main break was reported around 1:30 a.m. Monday on Sappington Road, between Hawbrook Avenue and Alexandra Avenue.

Later, a second break occurred around 11 a.m. Monday on North Berry Road, between Hillard Road and Lockwood Court.

Crews were also dispatched to a third break around 6 p.m. on North Sappington Road, between Kirkham Avenue and East Essex Avenue.

The fourth break happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday night in the area of Venneman Avenue, between Josephine Avenue and Fuhrman Terrace.

Crews are actively working to repair a break again on North Berry Road, between Kirkham Avenue and Hillard Road, after it was reported around 10:45 p.m. Monday night.

City officials have acknowledged the ongoing issues with water main breaks on the city's website, citing aging pipes, repeated breaks, and drought conditions as contributing factors.

Plans for long-term fixes are being detailed for both North Sappington Road and North Berry Road.
