Getzville man accused of murder in Broadway shooting
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Getzville man has been charged with murder in connection to a shooting on Broadway in Buffalo in 2024, the Erie County District Attorney's Office said Monday.
Jahi Pope, 23, is accused of "being a participant in the fatal shooting" of 19-year-old Naszair Sanders on the 1400 block of Broadway, near Liddell Street, in the early evening hours of July 29, 2024. Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said in 2024 they believed the shooting was targeted.
On Friday, Pope was formally charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held without bail.
If convicted of the murder charge, Pope faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
