From Miami to Milan: Meet the Team USA athletes with local ties
Team USA is gearing up for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. Among the Olympians representing the U.S., 12 have lived in Florida at one point or another.
From local university grads to Miami natives, Floridian athletes have sledded, skated and skied their way to the world stage. Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, who recently made her return to the alpine ski circuit, escaped the cold to live in Miami. Hockey brother duo Quinn Hughes and Jack Hughes were both born in Orlando before their family moved north to Toronto.
Later this week at the Opening Ceremony, two Floridians, Erin Jackson and Frank Del Duca, will be U.S. flag bearers. Jackson and fellow speed skater Brittany Bowe were both born and raised in Ocala. Bowe credits much of her success to her hometown inline skating coach Renee Hildebrand.
