Eagles rule out Jaire Alexander, who won't travel to Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Eagles newcomer Jaire Alexander (knee/coach’s decision) is not traveling with the team to Green Bay to play the Packers.
The veteran has officially been ruled out and will not face his former team on Monday Night Football.
The Eagles want to give Alexander some extra time to acclimate to the defense and are having him stay back in Philadelphia to focus on his knee recovery.
This week, Alexander said his knee felt better than it had all season and he was not listed on the team’s injury report.
Ahead of the deadline, the Eagles acquired Alexander from the Ravens for a late-round pick swap. Alexander was one of three players the Eagles acquired ahead of the trade deadline, along with OLB Jaelan Phillips and CB Michael Carter II.
The Eagles have been trying to shore up their CB2 position all season and two of their pre-deadline trades gave them some more options.
The Eagles can start Kelee Ringo, Adoree’ Jackson or even Jakorian Bennett if they activate him off IR. The other option is to play Cooper DeJean more outside and Carter in the slot.
It’s one of the bigger questions entering the second half of the season. Eventually the answer could be Alexander.
Just not this week.
