Driver dead, 2 passengers critical after car crashes into canal in SW Miami-Dade
A driver was killed and two passengers were hospitalized after a car crashed into a canal in southwest Miami-Dade on Monday, deputies said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened in the area of Southwest 268th Street and 107th Avenue.
Deputies said that the two passengers were able to escape from the vehicle as it started to submerge into the water, and they tried to save the driver.
Crews with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and the passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Their identities were not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
