DOJ to monitor polling sites in 5 California counties: this is where
(FOX 5/KUSI) -- The United States Justice Department on Friday announced plans to monitor polling sites in several counties across California during the Nov. 4, 2025, general election to ensure transparency, security and compliance with federal voting laws.

According to a DOJ press release, federal monitors will be present in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Fresno, and Kern counties. Officials say the effort is part of the department's ongoing mission to protect the rights of eligible voters and maintain confidence in the nation's electoral process.
“Transparency at the polls translates into faith in the electoral process, and this Department of Justice is committed to upholding the highest standards of election integrity,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “We will commit the resources necessary to ensure the American people get the fair, free, and transparent elections they deserve.”
The Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section, which is part of the DOJ, enforces key laws such as the Voting Rights Acts, National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act, collectively safeguarding voter access and ballot security, officials explained.
From now until Election Day, Civil Rights Division staff will also be available to receive public questions or concerns about voting access or election procedures.
Also, residents who wish to request election monitoring in their area can email the Voting Section at VEM@usdoj.gov. Once requested, the Civil Rights Division will determine whether monitoring is warranted.
