Dispute between neighbors leads to stabbing in North Philly, police say

A dispute between neighbors led to a stabbing in North Philadelphia that left one of the men in critical condition, police said.

The incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 14, around 12:30 a.m. along the 4500 block of North 16th Street. Investigators said a 47-year-old man and one of his neighbors, later identified by police as 43-year-old James Graham, had been involved in an ongoing dispute and were arguing overnight.

During the argument, Graham allegedly pulled out a knife with a four-inch blade and stabbed the 47-year-old man in the neck, torso, back and shoulders at least 10 times.

Police and medics arrived at the scene where they found the 47-year-old man semiconscious and bleeding heavily on the front steps of his home, investigators said. The man was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery and was placed in critical condition.

Investigators found a bloody knife at the scene as well as private surveillance cameras.

Graham remained at the scene and was taken into custody, police said. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Online court records don’t list the name of a public defender who could speak on Graham’s behalf.
