Del. maintenance worker accused of stealing medicine from senior living resident

A Delaware man was charged after stealing from an elderly person who lived at the senior living center where he worked, according to state police.

John Oboyle, 50, was working as part of the maintenance team at Stonegates Senior Living Community on the 4300 block of Kennett Pike in Greenville, Delaware, when he allegedly stole medications from a resident, officials said.

The resident had told troopers that they noticed their medicine and other items went missing several times, officials explained.

So, the resident installed cameras in their home and on Dec. 15, Oboyle was allegedly seen taking prescription medication and part of the security system, troopers said.

According to Delaware State Police, Oboyle had access to the resident’s home but he did not have a reason to enter at the time of the alleged thefts.

Oboyle was arrested on Dec. 17 and charged with burglary, theft and other related charges.

He was released from custody on $6,000 unsecured bond.
