CHP seeks public’s help in fatal hit-and-run on I-15 in Bonsall

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5.KUSI) -- California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 15 in Bonsall.

According to CHP officials, the crash happened at around 12:35 a.m. on Oct. 14 on northbound I-15, just south of Old Highway 395. An adult male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved may be a Mazda, possibly with damage to the left front-end or undercarriage.

CHP says the circumstances that led to the pedestrian being on the freeway are still under investigation.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen the crash or has information about the suspect vehicle to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP Oceanside Area Office at 760-643-3400.
