Buffalo LB Red Murdock breaks UB great Khalil Mack's NCAA record for forced fumbles in bounceback win at Bowling Green

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — University at Buffalo linebacker Red Murdock set an NCAA FBS record with his 17th career forced fumble, surpassing the mark of UB great and NFL star Khalil Mack during UB's 28-3 victory at Bowling Green on Saturday.

Murdock had 13 tackles with a sack and the turnover he created in the second quarter gave the Bulls a short field for their first touchdown of the game, Ta'Quan Roberson's 6-yard pass to Jasaiah Gathings.

Al-Jay Henderson rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown, Victor Snow scored on a 65-yard punt return and a 2-yard end around, Buffalonian Nik McMillan had 105 yards receiving, and UB bounced back from a home loss against Akron with its most decisive victory against a Mid-American Conference opponent this season.

UB (5-4 overall, 4-1 MAC) remained in postseason contention, in second place by half a game in the conference standings. The Bulls need to win one of the final three regular season games to gain bowl eligibility.

With extended time to prepare for their first midweek MACtion game of the season Nov. 12 at Central Michigan, the Bulls close out with two games at UB Stadium against Miami on Nov. 19 and Ohio on Nov. 28.
