Bodycam shows arrest of Homestead Police officer accused of DUI hit-and-run
New body camera video shows the arrest of a Homestead Police officer accused of a drunk hit-and-run in Florida City.
The crash happened back in September, when investigators said Officer Henry Quintero fled the scene of a crash.
Video shows a dark SUV speeding down West Palm Drive off U.S. 1 in Florida City on Sept. 2.
Moments later, the SUV slams into another vehicle, flipping it over. The moment of impact is heard on video.
Seconds later, that same dark SUV drives off, and a white SUV begins to follow it.
“I’m following a car that hit somebody, took a red light, it took off, I’m following it,” the driver tells 911.
Arrest records say Quintero had the smell of alcohol on his breath, along with bloodshot, watery eyes, and delayed, slurred speech.
Quintero told officers he had been cut off and claimed the crash was not his fault.
He now faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash, DUI and reckless driving.
Police say the two women inside the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. Quintero’s criminal case is still pending.
