Armored truck driver shoots at 2 armed robbers outside Philly Wawa, police say

An armored truck driver shot at two armed robbers outside a Philadelphia Wawa, police said.
The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7:55 a.m. outside the Wawa on the 7700 block of Frankford Avenue.
Police said two armed masked men tried to rob a Loomis armored truck driver. The driver pulled out his own weapon and fired at the suspects who fled the scene on foot down Meridian Street, according to investigators.

“It was like one shot and then I feel like it was like, ‘boom boom boom,’” one resident, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10. “I heard one shot and then I heard other shots and looked out the window. I seen the guy coming out or standing by the passenger side with the AR.”
A bullet struck a window of the Wawa but no injuries were reported during the shooting. The store was closed for several hours on Friday before it reopened.
The armored truck driver told police that the two robbers arrived at the scene in a white Acura. Investigators towed that vehicle after the shooting.
Officials have not yet released detailed descriptions of the two suspects. Police and the FBI are looking through surveillance cameras. They’re also asking anyone with information to reach out to them.
The incident was one of several armored truck robberies or attempted robberies in the Philadelphia region this year. One robbery occurred in Wilmington, Delaware, in May, four occurred in Philadelphia in June and July, one occurred in Montgomery County in August and an attempted robbery near the border of Philadelphia and Bala Cynwyd earlier in October led to a chase that stretched into Lower Merion, officials said.
On Friday, the FBI identified the suspect who was arrested and charged in at least four of those incidents.
