Argument inside West Philly senior living apartment building leads to man shot

An argument between two men inside a senior living facility in West Philadelphia escalated to a shooting leaving one of the men badly hurt on Tuesday night, according to police.
Officers were called to Bernice Arms on the 6000 block of Baltimore Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 14 for reports of a shooting inside an apartment complex, Philadelphia Police Department Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
When police got there, they found a 67-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach, Small said. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was placed in critical condition.
Investigators said that they think there was an argument between the 67-year-old and another man in the second floor hallway of the apartment building.
The argument led to the other man firing at least five shots at the 67-year-old, Small said. The victim’s apartment door and wall had bullet holes.

Small explained that the victim and the alleged shooter may have known each other. Police do have a name and description of the suspected shooter.
Police are talking to the staff of the senior living facility and investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage from inside and near the building, Small said.
